LandCruiser and Prado models are often expected to handle towing, long-distance touring, heavy accessories and off-road use. These operating conditions can increase stress on cooling systems, brakes, suspension, wheel bearings and driveline components.
A comprehensive service should examine fluid condition, leaks, steering and suspension play, tyre wear, brake operation, belts, hoses and underbody components. Vehicles fitted with aftermarket suspension, bull bars, roof loads or towing equipment should be assessed with those modifications in mind.
Before a long trip
A pre-trip inspection is useful before remote travel. Battery condition, cooling system integrity, spare tyre, brake wear, fluid levels and visible underbody damage should all be checked. Preventive maintenance is especially valuable where roadside assistance may be difficult.
Any unusual driveline vibration, steering movement, temperature change or warning light should be investigated before extended towing or off-road use.
